Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.

1. Who We Are
Measure Twice is a home improvement calculator tool for DIYers and contractors. We're based in the United States. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at mcallisterapps@googlegroups.com.
2. What Information We Collect
Information you give us directly
- Email address and name when you create an account
- Google profile information if you sign in with Google (name, email, profile photo)
- Messages you send through our contact form
- Project data you save (room names, measurements, material quantities, prices)
- Payment information when you subscribe to Pro — note: we never store your card details directly. All payments are processed by Stripe. See stripe.com/privacy for their policy.
Information collected automatically
- Basic usage data: which calculators you use, how often you visit, which features you interact with
- Device information: browser type, operating system, screen size
- IP address
- Referral source (how you found us)
We collect this through Firebase Analytics and Google Analytics.
Information we do NOT collect
- We do not collect payment card numbers (Stripe handles this)
- We do not collect precise location data
- We do not collect information from children under 13
- We do not read or store the actual measurements or project data of free users — free tier calculations happen entirely in your browser and are never sent to our servers
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and improve the Measure Twice calculators
- Save and sync your projects across devices (Pro users)
- Send you account-related emails (receipts, password resets, important updates)
- Respond to your support and contact messages
- Understand how people use the app so we can make it better
- Process your subscription payments through Stripe
- Send you product updates if you opted in (you can unsubscribe anytime)
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with advertisers.
4. Affiliate Links
Measure Twice participates in affiliate programs including Amazon Associates, Home Depot, and Lowe's affiliate programs. When you click a product link on our site and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
These affiliate links do not affect our calculator results or recommendations in any way. We link to products because they are relevant to your project, not because of commission rates.
This is also disclosed on our Disclaimer page.
5. Cookies and Tracking
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies for:
- Keeping you signed in to your account (authentication cookies — essential)
- Understanding how you use the site (analytics cookies — optional)
- Firebase session management
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels for ad targeting.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies will sign you out and may affect how the site works.
6. How We Store and Protect Your Data
Your account data and saved projects are stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), which provides:
- Encryption at rest
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Access controls so only you can read your own project data
- Google's enterprise-grade security infrastructure
We take reasonable technical measures to protect your information. However no internet service can guarantee 100% security. If you discover a security issue please contact us immediately at mcallisterapps@googlegroups.com.
7. Data Retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active.
If you cancel your Pro subscription:
- Your projects are retained for 90 days
- After 90 days, project data may be deleted
- Your account and email remain unless you request deletion
If you delete your account:
- Your personal information is deleted within 30 days
- Anonymized usage data (no personal info attached) may be retained for analytics
You can delete your account anytime from Account Settings. For other data requests, contact us at mcallisterapps@googlegroups.com.
8. Third-Party Services
Measure Twice uses these third-party services that have their own privacy policies:
- Firebase / Google
- Used for: hosting, database, authentication, analytics

- Used for: affiliate links. These services may set their own cookies when you click affiliate links.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete your account and personal data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Opt out of marketing emails

California Residents (CCPA)
We do not sell personal information. California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect and to request deletion. Contact us to exercise these rights.
European Users (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Union, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to object to processing and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Our legal basis for processing your data is:
- Contract performance (providing the service you signed up for)
- Legitimate interests (improving the product, preventing fraud)
- Consent (marketing emails — you can withdraw anytime)
10. Children's Privacy
Measure Twice is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do we will:
- Update the “last updated” date at the top of this page
- Notify you by email if the changes are significant (for account holders)
- The updated policy will be effective immediately upon posting
Continued use of Measure Twice after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
